What is Podiatry?

Podiatry deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs. At Sole Therapy, we can treat conditions that include those resulting from bone and joint disorders such as arthritis and soft-tissue and muscular pathologies, as well as neurological and circulatory disease.

What is a Sole Therapy General Treatment?

A general treatment at Sole Therapy is cosmetic foot beautification treatment that consists of a 30minute appointment that includes the diagnoses and treatment of nail and skin conditions of the feet.

What is Sports Podiatry?

At Sole Therapy, we are experts in the diagnosis of foot and lower limb problems resulting from pain, injury and dysfunction. We use leading-edge technology to assess a person’s biomechanics and functional stability. We use treatments such as joint mobilisation; advanced biomechanical assessments, soft tissue manipulation, dry needling and trigger point therapy, advanced orthotic therapy, rehabilitation, exercise, strength and conditioning of the lower extremities and footwear prescription for the professional, elite, amateur and young athletes, as well as those who have sustained injuries in day-to-day life.

What is the Sole Therapy Biomechanical Assessment?

This 1hr consultation explores in detail your body’s movement patterns to identify an abnormality that can be causing pain, dysfunction and poor posture. To fully understand your biomechanics, a dynamic and static posture video analysis is undertaken on the treadmill or walking pressure sensor platform. This is conduction with a comprehensive medical history, muscle strength and length examination, as well as functional movement patterns of joint and muscle analysis, enables the practitioner to give you the best advice and treatment outcomes for your needs. On this appointment, you will receive footwear advice, rehabilitation exercises and hands-on treatment combined with a goal orientated treatment plan to get you back on your feet faster.

What do I bring to my Biomechanical Assessment?

During this examination, we assess your overall body dynamics. Please bring a pair of shorts or wear pants that can be rolled up past your knee for assessment purpose. Dress comfortably. Preferred attire for assessment is sports/work out gear that can show lower limbs and hip position easily.  Bring 3 pairs of shoes you wear 80 percent of the time for i.e sports, work, casual.

Can you help my kids? When should I get them screened?

Podiatry care for your kids is important in the long term because unaddressed structural problems with the feet can worsen over time, eventually causing severe issues with gait and pain. We here at Sole Therapy are passionate about your children’s foot health and posture. We have large pediatric clients with our youngest client being 18mnths. We believe through correcting early foot deformities many long-term chronic mobility issues can be safely and effectively addressed, sparing a great deal of discomfort on the part of your child, and future expenses. We can help with walking difficulties, flat feet, growing pains, warts, ingrown toenails and general footwear concerns.

Do I need a referral?

No. You only need a referral from your doctor if you are being treated following a work injury (claiming Workers Compensation) are eligible to claim a portion of the consult back through Medicare (EPC Plan for Chronic health conditions – ask your doctor if you are eligible) or are a veteran eligible for care through DVA.

Who will perform my treatments?

Qualified Podiatrists in general and sports podiatry will perform the treatment.

How long does each treatment session last?

General treatment – 30minutes
Initial Biomechanical treatment – 1hr
Subsequent Biomechanical treatment – 30minutes

Are you open after hours?

Yes. We are open to 8 pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

How do I get there?

We are located at the Coles end of the Ramsgate beach shopping precinct. Parking can be found in the Coles car park or out the front of Sole Therapy in the parking areas. We are all saints medical centre on level one.
If coming by public transport. The bus stop stops at Ramsgate beach shops outside the clinic. Buses depart from Rockdale and Kogarah station regularly every 15minutes.

What Health Funds do you accept?

We have HICAPS and claiming is simply done at the time of your consult with your health fund card. If you have private health cover and subscribe to the “extras” cover you should be eligible to claim part of your treatment fee. There are many different schemes and you will need to check your level of cover with your insurer in order to find how much they will contribute towards your fees.
